Description: Sprocket, the wooly alpaca, cannot wait to welcome your family to Hidden Oak Farms, a petting zoo of goats, sheep, rams, deer, and many exotic animals. Clyde the camel joined the family in Dec of 2005 as a baby; wait until you see Clyde now! New animals are added on a regular basis, so plan on visiting frequently. Young children will enjoy the new Tiny Tots Travel area, an enclosed play space. Should all the loving on the animals leave you hungry, check out the Snack Shack. Taste the wonderful hamburgers or try a meat pie, a northern Louisiana favorite. And folks of all ages can take a ride on the Moo-Moo-Choo-Choo, built by David Boyer, who runs this great facility with his wife, Dianna. On-site party pavilions and a large playground system make this a great location for hosting birthday parties; be sure to call and make arrangements prior to your arrival. Free parking. Open Sat from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sun from 12 to 4 p.m.

Description: Opened in 1981, this museum celebrates the art of taxidermy, with more than 1,000 animals from around the world on display. Most of the animals were once attractions at a zoo; now they continue to provide educational enjoyment to visitors. Many of the animals have been placed in spaces designed to simulate their natural habitats, complete with handpainted backgrounds. Also see the painting of new dioramas. This facility also houses several interesting Native American artifacts and memorabilia from the Civil War and the two World Wars. Be sure to stop by the gift shop to find that special object that will help you remember your adventure. Very popular with school groups and families. Free parking. Open Tues through Sat 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Group rates are available if you call prior to your visit.
