Address: 202 Patriot Place

Description: Part scavenger hunt, part physical challenge, these themed interactive reality experiences are like stepping into an adventure movie. A guide/actor takes you through either the Espionage or the 20,000 Leagues adventure, where successfully navigating the game requires teamwork, puzzle-solving, and physical skill. At Espionage kids can put their sleuthing skills to work by cracking a safe, dodging lasers, and defusing a bomb. At 20,000 Leagues you’ll board a Victorian-era submarine where hidden latches and secret doors are opened only when you figure out the musical code and reconfigure the gears in the engine room. Both adventures are totally G-rated (although the dark room and special-effect lighting may be mildly scary to very young kids); the activities are suitable for children ages 7 and over, and your kids will probably complete the tasks better than you!

2. Gillette Stadium

City: Foxboro, MA
Category: Tours & Attractions
Telephone: (508) 543-8200
Address: 1 Patriot Place

Description: Home to the New England Patriots and the New England Revolution (Major League Soccer), Gillette Stadium is a 68,000-seat state-of-the-art outdoor stadium loaded with amenities including theater-style seating, unobstructed views, and 2 massive HDTV screens at each end zone. Gillette is located 20 miles southwest of Boston, but it is in the middle of nowhere. Pre- and postgame gridlock on Route 1 and surrounding roads is legendary and the parking fee on football game days is $40 (ouch!). Taking the MBTA (mbta.com) football train from Boston or Providence may be a convenient, less expensive, and greener option.
