Description: Open all year for breakfast and lunch, the Red Cottage is famous for its home fries. No simple sliced-and-fried taters here. Instead the potatoes are tossed with ham, mushrooms, tomatoes, green peppers, and onion, then smothered with hollandaise sauce. Equally delicious are the crepes and Belgian waffles. The Red Cottage also features an extensive “lite side” menu, complete with a listing of fat grams per serving. Open daily except for Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter, it’s a busy place on weekend mornings but well worth the wait.

Description: Known as the Sea Captain’s Church because so many of its members were shipmasters, this church was built in 1835. The south parish of the Dennis church was established here in 1794 and later broke away from the north in 1817. The current church replaced a small meetinghouse built in 1794. The church features the oldest operating pipe organ in the country and a chandelier of Sandwich glass that was once fueled with whale oil. The organ, built in 1765, was installed in the mid-19th century and attracts pipe organ enthusiasts from around the world. Behind the church is a cemetery with many stones bearing the names of ship captains as well as the words lost at sea.
