Description: Set within a residential community on some 90 acres, Holly Ridge is an 18-hole, 2,952-yard, par 54 public course designed by Geoffrey Cornish. The signature hole here is the seventh, which has a pond to avoid on your tee shot. The course has a driving range, practice green, carts, and pro shop as well as a club restaurant. Holly Ridge is open year-round and offers an extensive lessons program. Reservations are accepted up to seven days in advance for tee times. In-season greens fees are $34 for 18 holes, $21 for 9. After 3 p.m. the fee drops to $21 for 18 holes. Carts are $10 per person per 18 holes, $6 per person per 9 holes, and $4 for pull carts.

2. Camp Burgess For Boys–Camp Hayward For Girls

Description: Set on over 300 acres of land in an area that encompasses three ponds, these two camps—Burgess for boys and Hayward for girls—are traditional overnight camps for children ages 7 to 15 run by the South Shore YMCA. The waterfront facility allows for sailing, windsurfing, waterskiing, basketball, volleyball, and tennis. The camps feature a 30-foot climbing tower and offer low- and high-ropes courses. Also offered are classes in arts and crafts, photography, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Sessions run from one to two weeks in June and Aug and cost $1,325 per camper for two weeks ($665 for one).

Description: A day camp for boys and girls from ages 4 to 15, Lyndon offers archery, games, sports, sailing and boating, a ropes challenge course, arts and crafts, kickball, and soccer. Swimming (including instruction) and horseback riding (ages 6 to 15) are part of the program. Camp Lyndon and its sister camp, Camp 132 in West Barnstable, are very popular and fill quickly. We advise contacting Camp Lyndon in March if you’d like your child to participate in one of their two-week summer programs. Bus transportation is available.
