Description: Welcome to Plantation 13. That’s what this part of Maine was called when Thomas Ruggles moved here in the early 19th century. His home, an 1820 Federal showplace known for its suspended, or “flying,” staircase and its carved paneling, is testament to the riches he made as a timber baron. Neat antiques, like a tall old spinning wheel, are spread throughout. Open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m.to 4:30 p.m. from June 1 through October 15.
