Description: Where else in the world does Santa arrive by lobster boat? Well, he actually does so in many Maine towns, but few hold a Christmas candle to the extravaganza enjoyed during the first weekend of December in the picturesque Midcoast communities of Camden and Rockport. We’re talking a holiday house tour, carolers strolling through historic neighborhoods, beachside bonfires, craft fairs and yuletide bazaars, carriage rides, old-fashioned baked bean suppers, a concert with the area’s famous folksingers, and, yes, plenty of opportunities for shopping at the resort town’s stores. The party gets under way on Friday afternoon and doesn’t let up until Sunday evening. This is what the holidays should be all about.
