1. Mooselook Guide Service

City: Gouldsboro, ME
Category: Parks & Recreation
Telephone: (207) 963-7223
Address: Route 186

Description: Though its name makes it sound more like an up-country outfit, Mooselook is actually based in the pretty coastal town of Gouldsboro, and while the guides here do offer canoe trips down the Narraguagus River, they do most of their work in the Schoodic area. The big blue expanse of Arcadia National Park, with its spruce-topped isles, pink granite ledges, seals, dolphins, and seabirds, is the setting for their half-day trips, which are open to novices as well as experienced paddlers. Individual or tandem kayaks can be used. Mooselook also offers some unique kayak-camping options, from the Honeymoon Special—during which a guide will paddle you out to a quiet island, make you dinner, and then leave you to your own delights, returning to make you breakfast—and a two-day, two-night trip for those interested in more time in the cockpit. Mooselook works every day in summer. Call for a reservation.
