1. Crocker House

City: Hancock Point, ME
Category: Accommodations
Telephone: (207) 422-6806
Address: 967 Point Rd.

Description: Built in 1884 as part of one of the great hotels that catered to vacationers at the turn of the 20th century, the inn has been thoughtfully restored over the years, and it’s quite comfortable in a country sort of way, with quilts, and antiques, twig wreaths, and private baths. There are 11 guest rooms in its three stories, each of which has been newly redone, and common areas for hanging out. Dinner here is an event (not included in room rate), with the public flocking in, but Sunday brunch is the real treat. Don’t miss it.

2. Crocker House

City: Hancock Point, ME
Category: Restaurants
Telephone: (207) 422-6806
Address: 967 Point Rd.

Description: One of the best places to stay Down East is also one of the best places to dine. A country inn in exclusive Hancock Point, the Crocker House serves up a fairly traditional menu that is exceedingly well done. Try the house special—Crocker House scallops, which are served with a lemon wine sauce—the broiled swordfish, or the shrimp scampi. Veggies come straight from the garden, desserts are homemade and fresh. Fine food is hard to find the farther you go down the coast—but this place holds its own with just about anyone. Open daily from mid-April through October and weekends in the off-season.
