Description: Some people feel that the real appeal of Lamoine Beach isn’t the beach at all but the jaw-dropping views of the mountains of Acadia National Park that you can see while standing on its sands. Mount Desert Island is just across Eastern Bay, and the 2,740 yards of fine beach give you an ideal prospect. But it’s hard to argue with this much sand beach in a part of the state where you’re not supposed to find any. The facilities are limited—picnic tables and a boat ramp—but you can find more (showers, bigger play areas, larger picnicking spots) up the way a bit at Lamoine State Park.
