Description: Bradbury Mountain isn’t much of a mountain. At 462 feet, it’s really a tall hill, and you can practically run up to its summit. But the little peak here, set between Lewiston and Portland and a skip from Freeport, has a truly great panorama at its top. Look in one direction and you can take in the distant seas of Casco Bay, turn in another and enjoy a look at the White Mountains of New Hampshire. For the amount of effort you expend getting to the top—the trail is less than a half mile—the vistas are incredible. The park in which the mountain sits is a 610-acre gem, one of Maine’s original state parks, founded in 1939. Open all year, 9 a.m. to sunset.
