Description: Sitting right at the end of Some Sound, the only fjord for miles, suffice it to say, this quiet campground has a rather ideal location. And it has built up a loyal clientele with its policies of serenity and for limiting the size of hulking RVs. Tenters particularly are drawn to the spot, though motor homes of 20 feet or less are welcome, too, but it isn’t any sort of wilderness. Electric hookups, showers, and a store known for its muffins and ice cream are all available. Many of the campground’s sites are right on the sound, and boat launching ramps make it easy to jump in, an attractive feature for kayakers.

Description: More professional summer fare on the island. These guys have been at it for more than 30 years. A mix of comedies, dramas, mysteries, and children’s shows make up their calendar, and the stage is at the neat old Masonic Hall in Somesville. Tickets are $22.
