Address: 25 Main St.

Description: Most visitors to Freeport are unaware the famous outlet town even has a waterfront, let alone a cruise company offering seal and osprey watches, foliage cruises, lobstering trips, and excursions to Eagle Island to see the former home and museum of Admiral Robert Peary, the first man to the North Pole. But there’s Captain Tom Ring, owner of Atlantic Seal Bed and Breakfast, shoving off from the Freeport Town Wharf on a daily basis in summer (late May through October).

Description: Captain Tom Ring hauls a trap on his narrated tour of Casco Bay, just one of the many offerings of Freeport-based Atlantic Seal Cruises (see the section Boat Rides and Day Sails earlier in this chapter). Tours are offered on a daily basis in summer (late May through October).

3. Harraseeket Lunch And Lobster

City: South Freeport, ME
Category: Restaurants
Telephone: (207) 865-4888
Address: Main St.

Description: You’ll never believe you’re still in Freeport as you stare out at this working waterfront on Casco Bay. Fresh lobster, well prepared, is on the docket at the lunch half of this equation, and it can attract crowds (which might remind you you’re in Freeport). The other half—Harraseeket Lunch—is where you’ll find all sorts of fried seafoods, sandwiches, chowders, and desserts. Try the fried clams, and follow it up with a whoopie pie. See why the Food Network stopped by.
