Description: In the 1920s, Clark Island was a bustling place with stonecutters carving granite out of the earth to be used in the Brooklyn Battery tunnel and the Library of Congress. This inn dates back to 1928, when it was built to house these quarry workers, and it became an inn in the 1940s. There are 28 guest rooms, some of which have private baths and most of which have jaw-dropping views of the island and the sea. People love to walk Clark Island, and there are trails all through it to explore. Check out the old quarries or hike to the far side where there are nice views out to the islands of Two Bush Channel. Work up an appetite and take yourself to the dining room—you won’t be disappointed. Open year-round.
