2. Rivermeadow Golf Club

City: Westbrook, ME
Category: Golf
Telephone: (207) 854-1625
Address: 216 Lincoln St.

Description: Established in 1958, Rivermeadow is a par 35, nine-hole course in the Greater Portland mill town of Westbrook. The river in question is the Presumpscot, which helped make Westbrook into the industrious little city it is by getting things started at the local paper mill. The course is pleasant and tree lined, with water coming into play on three holes and sand and grass bunkers. You shouldn’t have too much difficulty arranging a tee time, especially if you show up promptly at 7 a.m. The club is well outfitted, with a full pro shop, a practice green, a lounge and snacks, rentals, and instruction available.

3. Twin Falls Golf Club

City: Westbrook, ME
Category: Golf
Telephone: (207) 854-5397
Address: 364 Spring St.

Description: This is a tough one, thanks to woods and hills and small greens. Built in 1971 on the site of an old dairy farm in the Portland suburb of Westbrook, Twin Falls measures only 4,880 yards (par 33), but they are full of intriguing difficulties for the average golfer. The course is open from April through October, and there are club and car rentals and a snack bar. You won’t find tee times necessary.

4. Westerly Winds Sports Park And Golf Learning Center

City: Westbrook, ME
Category: Golf
Telephone: (207) 854-9463
Address: 853 Cumberland St. (River Rd.)

Description: Yet another set of Westbrook links, this is the Johnny-come-lately on the scene, built in 1985. Two nine-hole courses compete for the attention of golfers here: the old nine-hole, par 27 pitch-and-putt Westerly Winds Course and the new nine-hole, par 35 championship Sunset Ridge Golf Links course. The former is just good fun, the latter a serious course with white birch stands and apple orchards to play through and around. If it proves too challenging, you might want to switch over to the 18-hole minigolf course or the driving range, or put down the clubs altogether and hit a few balls in the batting cage, or try your luck at shuffleboard or tennis, or take a swim in the pool. This is quite the full-service facility and should keep the whole family happy.
