City: Edina, MN

Telephone: (952) 925-2711

Description: The Colonial Church of Edina is a curiosity that stands in stark contrast to the first-tier suburban architecture in the neighborhoods just north of MN 62. The church was modeled on a New England colonial village. Architect Richard Hammel visited a church in Barnstable, Massachusetts, that was built by the Pilgrims in the 17th century. The Edina design, in keeping with the source architecture, is simple and subdued. The church is gray with white trim and features a bell tower at the center. The colonial village design includes space for a sanctuary, lounges, and additional rooms for church activities.

In winter there’s skating and other snowy fun. If you’re in the mood for a little commercial entertainment, there’s also an adjacent Chuck E. Cheese.
