Description: Opened in September 2006, Chambers is the Midwestern sister of New York’s Chambers Hotel and has, in the estimation of at least one international magazine, eclipsed the original as the world’s premier art hotel. The small, 60-room hotel is filled with a staggeringly valuable collection of contemporary art from the collection of the hotel’s owner, Ralph Burnet; the first floor houses the Burnet Gallery, a public space for exhibits by cutting-edge contemporary artists. The rooms are modernistic and hip with big windows, plasma-screen TVs, glass-tiled bathrooms with rain showers, free wireless Internet access, 400-thread-count sheets, and art-bedecked walls. D’Amico Kitchen offers the creations of chef Richard D’Amico, and the top floor hosts a glass-walled, balconied lounge. The hotel is located in the heart of the Hennepin Theater District and is a short walk from Target Center, the Block E Entertainment Complex, and Nicollet Mall.
