Description: You can get to or from the airport via a variety of means. For the Lindbergh Terminal: For car rentals, city buses, hotel shuttles, or light rail, take the Hub Tram on Level T to the Transit Center.Once at the Transit Center, follow the signs on Level T to the escalators to reach the taxi station. Also follow the signs for car rental agencies, although the signage can be a little confusing; check around for a sign with your rental agency on it before getting on an escalator or walking out a door. At the Humphrey Terminal, you can find the rental car counters in the Ground Transport Center on the bottom floor of the parking ramp directly across from the terminal building. Car rental agencies that have locations at the airport (at both terminals) are National Car Rental (800-227-7368; www.nationalcar.com); Budget Car & Truck Rental (800-527-0700; www.budget.com); Avis Rent A Car (800-831-2847; www.avis.com); Alamo (800-327-9633; www.alamo.com); Dollar Rent A Car (800-800-4000; www.dollar.com); Enterprise Rent-A-Car (800-325-8007; www.enterprise.com); and Hertz (800-654-3131; www.hertz.com). Car rental agencies with off-airport locations are Ace (800-243-3443) and Thrifty (800-367-2277; www.thrifty.com). At the Lindbergh Terminal’s Transit Center, you can catch a shuttle bus designated for your agency. At the Humphrey Terminal, you must arrange pickup by using the call boards in the baggage claim area to contact your agency. You can catch taxis at the Lindbergh Terminal in the Transit Center, one level up from the Tram Level. At the Humphrey Terminal, taxis queue up at the Ground Transport Center on the bottom floor of the parking ramp directly across from the terminal building. Let the attendant know if you have special needs, such as a cab that takes credit cards. For a list of taxi companies and their contact information, see the Taxis section later in this chapter. City buses and the light-rail transit (LRT) are far and away the cheapest ways to get to and from the airport. If you’re traveling light and in no big hurry, you can catch a city bus at the Transit Center (Humphrey Terminal passengers arriving by bus or riding a bus to their Twin Cities destination must take the LRT between terminals, which is free between the airport stops). As a faster option, if your destination or starting point happens to be along its path, the LRT stops at the Lindbergh Terminal’s Transit Center and the Humphrey Terminal’s Ground Transport Center on its way to and from the Mall of America and downtown Minneapolis. Contact Metro Transit at (612) 373-3333 or visit www.metrotransit.org for route and schedule information for buses or light rail.
