Address: 200 South Sixth St.

Description: Minneapolis was known throughout the nation as the Mill City during the 19th and early 20th centuries. As time has passed, the importance of milling has been de-emphasized, and the “City of Lakes” nickname has moved to the forefront. However, milling and its many allied services and industries remain a vital part of the area’s dynamic economy. The US Bank Plaza, which has two towers, was originally built as the Pillsbury headquarters. Pillsbury Center was completed in 1981. In 2001 Pillsbury was acquired by General Mills, which relocated the company to its suburban Golden Valley campus. US Bank took up the empty space in Pillsbury Center, and soon thereafter the building was renamed to reflect this change. US Bank Plaza is in the heart of downtown Minneapolis, where the 40-story and 22-story towers overlook the city with their immense neighbors. The beautiful atrium distinguishes it from other structures, with its eight stories of enclosed open space.
