Description: Christian Brothers College (CBC) is a Lasallian community founded by followers of St. John Baptist de La Salle in 1849. CBC’s St. Louis campus was the first college of the Christian Brothers in the Americas, and it remains one of the most prestigious Catholic high schools in the region. A perennial powerhouse in academics and athletics, the all-male CBC has produced many of St. Louis’s most celebrated athletes and corporate tycoons. CBC accepts applications for students entering ninth grade, and applications are due by December of the preceding year. Admission is based on the applicant’s grades, scores on standardized tests, behavior reports from teachers and principals, and the ever-important “past association with CBC,” including those who have relatives who are alumni of the school. Typically, CBC receives many more applicants than it can accept, so the admissions process is very competitive. The 240,000-square-foot campus includes an academic wing with 52 classrooms, a 3,000-seat athletic stadium, a 400-seat performing-arts center, a 500-seat dining hall, and an 1,800-seat gym.
