Description: J. Buck’s is a popular area restaurant that is named for the Buck family broadcasters, including the late Jack Buck of KMOX, his son Joe Buck of Fox Sports, and his daughter Julie, who works in local radio. The Clayton location has proved to be so popular that the Bucks decided to open one downtown (1000 Clark Street; 314-436-0394). The eateries may have been “built” on the sports theme, but J. Buck’s is far from being a sports bar. In addition to being a popular meet-and-greet spot for young professionals, it offers a casual atmosphere that has been decorated with lots of wood, stone, and warm lighting. The menu features a variety of steaks, chops, sandwiches, salads, gourmet pizzas, fresh fish, and free-range chicken, as well as a list of delectable desserts. There’s also a kids’ menu and a lengthy martini menu for grown-ups. Open daily for lunch and dinner.
