City: Manchester, MO
Category: Restaurants
Telephone: (636) 207-1368
Address: 14560 Manchester Road

Description: Saleem’s, “Where Garlic Is King,” definitely lives by its motto. The restaurant’s owner is primarily responsible for introducing Middle Eastern fare to St. Louis more than 30 years ago, and it offers area diners a great resource for exploring new culinary territory without being too exotic. Saleem’s offers some of the best hummus in town, along with feta cheese and olives as a starter. There are also crisp salads, authentic shish kebabs, falafel, and an excellent baklava. Try the Turkish coffee, which is served with fragrant cardamom rather than packets of sugar or artificial sweeteners. And don’t forget a breath mint. Saleem’s is open for dinner only, Monday through Saturday, and reservations are recommended.
