Description: Uncle Ike’s Trail Ride, the oldest in the area with more than 25 years in operation, is named after a character in The Shepherd of the Hills and is actually located at Notch, where the prototype for Uncle Ike carried mail over some of the same trails you’ll be riding. The 2.5-mile daily ride takes about 45 minutes. It’s available on a first-come, first-served basis; no reservations needed. The cost in 2009 was $25 per person. There’s also a 7 a.m. breakfast ride, which is 4.5 miles and takes just a little more than two hours. Breakfast, cooked at about the halfway point, consists of sausage, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, hash browns, coffee, and juice—all you can eat, or at least all that the pack horses can pack in! Cost for the breakfast ride is $45, with children younger than six charged $8. Dinner rides, with scrumptious dinner fare, are $47.50. Uncle Ike’s Trail Ride is 0.5 mile past the entrance to Silver Dollar City on MO 76.
