Description: Spokane is a small school in Christian County north of Branson. Like most of the communities in the immediate Branson area, it has had some fallout from the Branson boom. There has been movement into the community, as it is about halfway between Branson and Springfield. Many of its residents work in one town or the other. In 2009 Spokane had an enrollment of 765, with a student-to-teacher ratio of 18 to 1. But like many schools, it has been hard-pressed to keep up with the unexpected growth. The school has had to build additions to both the middle school and the elementary school. In 2009 the district had an assessed valuation of $51.9 million. It received Missouri’s A-plus rating in 2002. Undoubtedly the district will continue to grow as more people perceive it as an ideal location in which to live, a short commute to either Branson or Springfield.
