Description: Chaminade College Preparatory School (CCPS) is an independent Catholic school for young men in grades 6 through 12 and provides a wide range of athletic, cultural, social, and religious activities as part of its total education program. Academically, Chaminade offers a rigorous curriculum that requires students to take classes that include religious studies, classical/modern languages, social studies, fine arts, practical arts, and numerous sciences. As in all area high schools, athletics are tremendously popular here, and Chaminade regularly produces championship teams at the middle school, junior varsity, and varsity levels. In addition to the usual lineup of sports teams, CCPS offers hockey, water polo, golf, wrestling, and volleyball, and its athletic facilities are superior to those found in many professional, minor-league sports organizations. In addition to studying and playing sports, the students perform a total of 30,000 service hours per year. Students in grades 6 through 11 must work from 20 to 50 total hours per school year, while seniors are required to complete a 50-hour service project. The projects are coordinated through the school’s Campus Ministry and religious-studies classes.
