New City’s faculty has been utilizing the theory of Multiple Intelligences since the school’s founding in 1988, and it has received nationwide attention for its efforts. The school is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools and offers programs for children age three through the sixth grade. Yearly enrollment is about 400 students, and admission is based on an in-person visit that allows teachers to observe the child in work and play situations, along with formal and informal assessment of the child’s skill development.
