There is also an abundance of thrill rides, including Tony Hawk’s Big Spin, the Evel Knievel roller coaster, Batman the Ride looping super coaster, the Ninja steel coaster, Mr. Freeze, and the Screamin’ Eagle. Visitors can cool off at Thunder River’s seven acres of the white-water rapids, at Hurricane Harbor water park, or on the Tidal Wave ride as a 20-person boat drops over a 50-foot waterfall into 300,000 gallons of water. There’s also the Colossus Ferris wheel, the Log Flume, Highland Fling, Rush Street Flyer, River King Mine Train, Tom’s Twister, the Joker, and Shazam!—to name a few. The popular Scooby-Doo! Ghostblasters ride takes thrill-seekers through a scary swamp adventure. Other attractions include rides such as Dragon’s Wing, the Rock Wall Climb, and Speed O’Drome Go-Karts. During the summer months, this Six Flags location hosts a number of live pop and country music concerts at the Old Glory Amphitheater located on-site. Tickets to the shows are an additional fee to the park admission price. Beginning in 2009, visitors can experience The Wahoo Racer, a six-lane water slide that propels riders along 262-feet of steep drops and rolls. After the sun sets, Six Flags lights up the night with Glow in the Park, a nighttime parade featuring six custom-designed floats, mobile units, and 65 light-adorned drummers, puppeteers, singers, dancers and stilt walkers. St. Louis offers more free attractions than any area outside of the nations’ capital. Popular freebies include the Missouri History Museum, St. Louis Zoo, Anheuser-Busch Brewery, Saint Louis Art Museum, Grant’s Farm, Purina Farms, the Gateway Arch’s Museum of Westward Expansion, Saint Louis Science Center, Old Courthouse, Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, and Laumeier Sculpture Park.
