Description: The first thing to note about BirdBrain Ostrich Ranch is this is a commercial operation that raises ostriches as a source of meat. So, make sure the kids are okay with the notion that these cute and quirky birds will end up on someone’s kitchen table.BirdBrain provides an in-depth look in the ostrich industry, past and present. You get the historical perspective with postcards and memorabilia from farms in the late 1800s and early 1900s. You also learn the products that are obtained from ostriches, including meat, leather, feathers, eggs, and oils used in household products. The most popular part of the tour is the up-close opportunity to feed these unique animals their “dinosaur” food. Open Sat and Sun by appointment only; $5 per person. After the tour, stop for an ostrich burger at The Landing, a nearby restaurant.
