1. Indian Creek

City: Elkhorn, NE
Category: Parks & Recreation
Telephone: (402) 289-0900
Address: 3825 N. 202nd St.

Description: Indian Creek is a 27-hole course that suits a visiting golfer with a serious game. Indian Creek was built in 1990 in Elkhorn, a northwest Omaha suburb. What the course lacks in age it makes up for in quality. Here, you will find long, treacherous tee shots over water; challenging approach shots; and large, undulating greens. The course is nice—and difficult—enough to host state match play championships and US Open sectional qualifiers. The average golfer will likely dunk a few balls in the water here, as there are lakes or streams that come into play on 15 of the course’s 27 holes.

Description: Bella Vita is a tiny, romantic spot in Elkhorn, a suburb on the west side of Omaha. It has the feel of a charming bistro with exposed brick walls, vintage furniture, and big wine barrels scattered through the space that act as podiums for dramatic floral arrangements. Pasta entrees include a Bolognese sauce infused lasagna and a cheese stuffed, marinara topped manicotti. Other house specialties include the grilled salmon risotto, pork osso bucco, and a portabella mushroom cap stuffed with cheese and mushrooms topped with a balsamic reduction and sautéed shrimp. Bella Vita has a happy hour Sun through Fri from 3 to 5 p.m. that features $5 wine, cocktails, and appetizers. On Steak Sunday and Monday, a 10-ounce ribeye is only $11, and on Wine-O Wednesday, guests get a free appetizer when they buy a bottle of wine.
