This company offers all the equipment and instruction needed for first-timers over the age of 18. Sky Dive Long Island operates seven days a week; reservations are required. For a first-time jumper, plan on spending $225 for the complete tandem skydive experience.

Description: Encompassing 96 acres, this is one of the region’s largest and most exciting water parks. It’s open seasonally (late May through early Sept) and offers over a dozen water-based “thrill” rides and slides suitable for teens and adults. One of the park’s most recent additions is Dr. VonDark’s Tunnel of Terror, which features a scary 40-foot drop. Land-based attractions at Splish Splash Island include the Close Encounters of the Bird Kind tropical parrot show, which is presented several times daily (11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m.) between mid-June and early Sept. Daily ticket prices are $36.99 per adult and $27.99 per child; however, if you’ll be staying in the area, an annual pass, priced at $69.99 per person, offers a much better deal. Tickets can be purchased online or at the park’s ticket counter. Especially on a hot and sunny day, this is an exciting alternative to the beach that kids, teens, and adults alike will enjoy.

Splish Splash Island, which celebrated its 20th season in 2010, is open seasonally (late May through early Sept). The family-friendly park encompasses 96 acres and is chock-full of waterslides, rides, and swimming pools. While you’ll find small slides and pools for kids, this water park also caters to thrill-seeking teens and adults. For example, one of the park’s most recent additions is Dr. VonDark’s Tunnel of Terror, a waterslide that ends with an extremely steep 40-foot drop.
