Description: Founded in 1999, this vineyard offers a wine-tasting room and group tours of the production facilities (by appointment only). It consists of 81 planted acres and produces Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot.

2. Osprey’S Dominion Vineyard

Description: Operating from its 90 planted acres since 1983, Osprey’s Dominion Vineyard is known for its Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir Merlot, and Pinot Noir. Here you’ll find a wine-tasting room, public outdoor areas, and production-facility tours. As with the majority of the larger vineyards in the region, special events and live entertainment are also presented on an ongoing basis. This winery is open year-round seven days a week, usually between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

3. Pindar Vineyards

Description: This is one of the largest and most established vineyards in the region. It opened in 1979, when Long Island’s wine country was first becoming established, and now occupies more than 667 planted acres. Over 17 varieties of grapes are grown here, and the vineyard annually produces 70,000 cases of wine. More than a dozen different varieties are produced here, including Chardonnay, Riesling, and Gamay Beaujolais. You’ll find a wine-tasting room, beautiful outdoor areas, and tours of the production facilities offered here, along with an extensive lineup of special events and live entertainment throughout the year. This vineyard has won numerous awards and medals for its wines.

4. Raphael Wine

Description: Since 1996 Raphael Wine has been producing Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, and Petit Verdot from the grapes grown on its 60 planted acres. Like all of the midsize wineries in the region, this one offers a wine-tasting room, beautiful outdoor areas that are open to the public, tours of the wine-production facilities, and live entertainment. Special events are also hosted here throughout the year. Reservations are required for the tours.

5. The Tasting Room

Description: Featuring many wines from about nine smaller vineyards and wineries, many of which are not open to the public, this is the place to visit to sample and purchase a wide range of Long Island wines. A wine-tasting room if offered here, but no vineyard. The Tasting Room is open year-round, typically Fri through Sun, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Private tastings for groups can also be scheduled.
