BoxFarm is one of several upscale establishments located in Southampton. It’s housed within a colonial farmhouse that was built in the 1600s. Of course, it’s been fully modernized and renovated to provide for the utmost in comfort and luxury, without compromising the historic look and setting.BoxFarm offers an extremely romantic setting, so it’s the perfect place to escape with a loved one for some quality one-on-one time. The main building includes six individual guestrooms (each with a private bathroom), plus three common rooms, a dining room, and a country kitchen. There’s also a porch, which offers a spectacular view of the B&B’s outdoor swimming pool.

Description: This charming inn is located on five acres in the lovely Southampton area. While it’s considered an inn, due to its smaller size, it offers all of the services and amenities you’d expect from a full-service hotel or resort. This is a luxurious kid- and pet-friendly property that features a pool, game room, and tennis courts. It’s also close to several beaches, including Cooper’s Beach (which is two minutes away by car or via the inn’s free shuttle van). Offering 90 guestrooms, the Southampton Inn is more like a boutique hotel, in terms of the unique design of each room. While the decor of the guestrooms is upscale, the focus is on comfort and luxury. All rooms contain refrigerators, wireless Internet, and one or two extremely comfortable Tempur-Pedic beds. Many of the rooms have spacious work areas (ideal for business travelers), though the main focus of this hotel is to offer luxury accommodations to leisure travelers. This is an entirely nonsmoking property. The OSO restaurant within the inn is a fine-dining establishment that serves breakfast, lunch (during peak season), and dinner. As with any hotel, inn, or B&B in the Hamptons, you’ll pay a premium to stay here between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Description: This hospital serves the Hamptons and is known for providing a full range of high-quality medical services. Southampton Hospital was founded in 1908 and is a relatively small but well-established state-of-the-art facility with a highly skilled medical staff. Among the specialty clinics offered are the Center for Weight Loss Surgery and the Ellen Hermanson Breast Center.

Description: While Long Island is a place people go to experience the local wines, thanks to Southampton Publick House, it’s also a destination for enjoying local brews. This microbrewery offers a wide range of events and entertainment night after night, not to mention an impressive menu of beers. Lunch and dinner menus, as well as a pub menu, are offered within a classic pub atmosphere.

Description: Named for its address in lovely Southampton, 75 Main is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, as well as for Sun brunch. There’s a daily happy hour in the bar, and live entertainment is offered most nights. Offering both indoor and outdoor seating, 75 Main is known for its tasty “relaxed fine dining.” The all-American food is expertly prepared and very nicely presented. This is a wonderful place to meet friends for lunch, dinner, and/or drinks. The menu changes seasonally.

Description: Serving sandwiches, soups, and other light fare, this is primarily a cheese shop that offers a very diverse selection of locally produced, domestic, and imported cheeses. If you’re planning a picnic at one of the local wineries or at a nearby park, for example, drop by the Village Gourmet Cheese Shoppe for a take-out meal and cheese that will go perfectly with your wine.

Description: Located in the Southampton Inn, this award-winning restaurant serves steaks, chops, local fish, seafood, and a variety of vegetarian dishes created by chef Bryan Naylor. As you’d expect, the freshest organic ingredients are used to prepare each and every meal, many of them locally grown and seasonal. Thus, the menu changes regularly. To accompany your meal, wine pairings, featuring local Long Island wines, are available. In fact, on weekdays between 5 and 7 p.m., all Long Island wines that are served by the glass are offered at half-price. Between 5:30 and 7 p.m., a three-course prix fixe ($29 per person) menu is served, and at OSO Thurs night is lady’s night in the both the dining room and bar area. This is a wonderful place to meet friends for drinks and a delicious meal, or to enjoy a romantic dinner for two.

Description: Open daily starting at 5 p.m. for dinner, Coast Grill features the culinary creations of chef Brian Cheewing. To begin your meal, a nice selection of hot and cold appetizers are available, ranging from local littleneck clams, oysters, and shrimp cocktail to New England clam chowder, jumbo lump crab cakes, and wild mushroom strudel. The homemade lobster ravioli is a house specialty. Entrees include linguine with littleneck clams, crispy roasted free-range chicken, Thai-spiced bouillabaisse, seasonal vegetable fricassee, New York steak, and Atlantic salmon. Located right on the water, this “rustic” restaurant has been a popular dining option in Southampton for more than two decades.

Description: Even after recently celebrating its 40th year in business, the Lobster Inn continues to offer a fine-dining experience on the waterfront for both lunch and dinner daily. On the menu you’ll find local seafood. One of the house specialties is a steamed shellfish platter for two. While the food is top-notch, the atmosphere is casual. Arrive by car or boat (free docking is available). If you’re a seafood lover, you’ll definitely enjoy dining here.

10. The Shinnecock Hills Golf Club

Description: As a private club, the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club is not open to the public for playing, but the public is often invited to be spectators for major tournaments and golfing events held here. This is the oldest formal golf club in the United States (founded in 1891), and was the first to admit women. The club’s 18-hole course has hosted the U.S. Open four times, in 1896, 1986, 1995, and 2004.
