Description: Oregon produces more Christmas trees than any other state in the union, and during December, you can’t drive 2 miles in the countryside without running into three tree farms. Many families begin their holiday season with a trip to Sleighbells on the weekend after Thanksgiving, where they pick out their tree and sip hot cocoa. Sleighbells is more than a tree farm, however; it’s a holiday extravaganza. The gift shop features a variety of collectible ornaments from Christopher Radko, Polanaise, Slavic Treasures, Chase, Snowbabies, and Department 56 among other lines (that is to say, breakable things). Wreaths and garlands are available during the season, and gifts and crafts are available year-round. Of note are the strolling peacocks that lend an exotic air. You can choose between precut trees or hacking one down yourself. Sleighbells also offers a variety of different activities throughout the year. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
