Category: Getting Here, Getting Around
Telephone: (717) 397-4246
Address: 45 Erick Rd.

Description: RRTA operates 17 bus routes that serve Lancaster City and County. In the city, bus stops are marked by signs. If you’re traveling outside the city, make sure you have a schedule with you to note the route of the bus you want. If you want to get on and there is no sign nearby to indicate a regularly scheduled stop, just wait at a safe spot (that is, out of the path of traffic) on the side of the road and wave when you see a bus approaching. The driver will stop to allow you to board. Each RRTA bus is clearly marked on the front, sides, and back with a route number and a name. Fares are determined by zone, beginning at $1.60 to a maximum of $2.80. Transfers are an additional 5 cents plus any applicable zone fares (20 cents to $1.25). Persons with special physical needs and those under age 65 with a Medicare card can ride for half fare during off-peak hours (peak hours are 7 to 8 a.m. and 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. weekdays). To qualify, passengers must show a Half Fare ID card (available to qualified individuals from RRTA). Students (kindergarten through grade 12) are eligible for a student rate; high schoolers must show proof of student status to obtain the discount rate. Children ages 5 and under ride free when accompanied by a full-fare paying passenger. Senior citizens age 65 and older with a transit ID or Medicare card ride free anytime.
