3. Garden City Pavilion Arcade

City: Garden City Beach, SC
Category: Tours & Attractions
Telephone: (843) 651-2770
Address: 103 Atlantic Ave.

Description: This attraction is one of those classic finds that really sets the Grand Strand apart as a unique vacation spot. In this relatively quiet section of the South Strand known as Garden City Beach, you’ll find the incongruously flashy Garden City Pavilion Arcade. Featuring the neon and clamor of more than 200 arcade games, this little gem feels exactly like the Myrtle Beach of 50 years ago. In fact, if you want to know what it was like to visit the Strand in the early 1960s, stop by here; though, we have to admit that the arcade games are a lot more high-tech than we remember from those black-and-white television days.Within walking distance are lots of carnival-type games and a batting cage, as well as several souvenir shops. In addition, ice-cream, snow-cone, popcorn, and hot dog booths make a showing to appease both your appetite and your sweet tooth. Peak-season hours are 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily.
