6. Quail Ridge Golf Course

City: Bartlett, TN
Category: Parks & Recreation
Telephone: (901) 386-6951
Address: 4055 Altruria Road

Description: Here is a nifty 18-hole course located northeast of the city in the suburb of Bartlett. Tree-lined fairways (some wide, some narrow) demand careful tee shots because you’ll be looking to set up your ever-important approach shots on most of these holes. All the par 3s demand good shot making, taking advantage of moderate elevation changes that set up large and well-maintained greens. Length from the back tees is only 6,314 yards and par is 71, but this deceiving layout will drive many golfers to overconfidence. It’s difficult to put a finger on what exactly makes this spread such a favorite—perhaps the friendly staff, the design? Rates are in line with comparable area courses, at $48 plus tax during busy summer times and as low as $25 for weekday twilight play (fees include cart). Memberships are available. The clubhouse at this busy place is attractive and pretty new and includes a snack bar and pro shop.

These days the firm continues to sell lots of new homes, particularly in the Collierville, Bartlett, Cordova, and Millington areas. Existing homes are equally important to them, however, and account for almost half of the agency’s business. Those listings tend to be in the same area, although agents handle listings all over town. Mallard Creek has 50-plus agents, with an average of at least a decade of experience, and maintains offices in both Bartlett and Cordova. It does some $75 million in annual gross sales. The owner and founder is Stan Holmes.
