Description: This 6,743-yard gem is adjacent to I-40, but only a couple of holes abut the interstate, and there is ample vegetation to block most noise. This layout can be quite a challenging test. In winter overseeded rye makes for green fairways, and the bent-grass greens can be deadly fast anytime. Many holes feature water hazards, and a healthy breeze is a frequent adversary. George Cobb is well-known for designing “Amen Corner” at Augusta, but not many locals know he designed this layout as well. Lots of corporate tournaments are held here, so always call ahead. Being close to the freeway means quick and easy access from most of the city, so that adds to the course’s popularity. Weekend rates including cart (with GPS) run $46.
