Description: This hidden jewel, located about two hours east of Memphis, is small and lightly used. Thirty miles of hiking trails with overnight shelters line the hills that surround a lake and the Dismal Swamp. A wooden boardwalk 0.8 mile long will take you through the swamp. Only electric motors and paddling are allowed on the 165-acre lake, and fishing is O.K. The 14 miles of horse trails attract riders with their own horses, and mountain bikes are allowed on some of these trails, too. In addition to RV and primitive campsites, you’ll find a nice bathhouse. To get there go east on Highway 57 for about 80 miles, and about 7 miles past its intersection with U.S. Highway 45, look for the entrance on the right.
