Description: Jesse James hid out here. The Confederate Cavalry used it for a gathering site. And entertainer Barbara Mandrell chose it for her log cabin home. With a wealth of history behind it, the Fontanel Mansion and Farm is starting a new chapter in its long life. Located less than 15 minutes from downtown Nashville, the place was opened to the public in June 2010.Formerly owned by County Music Hall of Fame member Barbara Mandrell, the Fontanel Mansion boasts 3 stories, more than 20 rooms, 13 bathrooms, 5 fireplaces, 2 kitchens, an indoor pool, and even an indoor shooting range on 136 acres of pristine land. The mansion also is filled to the brim with photos, memorabilia, and personal items from when the Mandrell family lived here. Guests are invited to touch, see, feel, and relax in this magnificent home.After touring the mansion and hiking the trails, guests can dine at the Farm House Restaurant at Fontanel. The Farm House showcases a “farm-to-fork” menu with items that feature local produce, dairy, and meats delivered from area farms and sustainable sources. Offering southern-style comfort food with a fun creative twist, the Farm House has an on-site organic teaching garden. The Farm House serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner 7 days a week.
