Description: The district serves the city of Bedford, most of the cities of Euless and Hurst, and small parts of North Richland Hills, Colleyville, Fort Worth, and Arlington. The district operates 19 elementary schools, five junior high schools, and two high schools, enrolling about 20,000 students total. Diversity is big here, as students speak more than 60 different languages at home. This community has one of the largest Tongan populations outside of the South Pacific.

Description: Within a 24,000-square-foot center, you’ll find a full-court gymnasium, fitness room, meeting room, and classroom. A busy calendar offers a monthly schedule of Jazzercise, arts and crafts, basketball, yoga, and tai chi. There’s a good fitness room with contemporary equipment offered to residents 16 and older. Around the center, a number of fields host soccer, baseball, softball, and volleyball league play. There’s also an inline hockey rink and a huge swimming pool with an aquatics program in summer.

Description: With a gorgeous campus of Georgian redbrick buildings in the elite neighborhood of University Park, this private school with about 11,000 students offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs through seven schools, specifically humanities and sciences; business; the performing, visual, and communication arts; engineering; education and human development; law; and theology. Additional campuses are in Plano and Taos, New Mexico. Of special interest is the statistic that SMU’s 10 libraries house the largest private collection of research materials in the Southwest; SMU was recently ranked in Forbes magazine as the 13th best university in the United States; and it houses a superior collection of Spanish art at the internationally acclaimed Meadows Museum. Founded in 1911, SMU is nonsectarian in its teaching. SMU’s athletic teams are the Mustangs.
