City: Benbrook, TX
Category: Parks & Recreation
Telephone: (817) 292-2400
Address: 7001 Lakeside Dr.

Description: Lying just off Fort Worth’s southwest side, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lake was created by damming the Clear Fork of the Trinity River, about 15 river miles above its confluence with the West Fork of the Trinity in downtown Fort Worth. There’s plenty of camping, with utility hookups available in Holiday Park and the Bear Creek Campground of Mustang Park. Table sites without utilities are found in the Mustang Point Campground of Mustang Park and Rocky Creek Park. Picnic sites can be found everywhere, and swimming is allowed everywhere except in boat launch areas. You’ll find designated swimming beaches at North Holiday Park and Mustang Point, as well as at Baja Beach in Dutch Branch Park. The 1.5-mile-long crest of the Benbrook Lake dam is popular for joggers and bicyclists; anywhere you look, you’ll find birding, too. Bring your fishing gear as well.
