Description: The nation’s largest university primarily for women, TWU offers programs in business, education, and general studies at Denton, Dallas, and Houston campuses and online. Enrollment totals about 12,500, with more new nurse and health care graduates than any school in Texas. While the university has admitted men since 1972, its mission originally was and still is “to provide a liberal education and to prepare young women ‘for the practical industries of the age’ with a specialized education.”

Description: About 30 miles north of Dallas and Fort Worth, UNT distinguishes itself as one of just nine public universities in the country enrolling more than 4,000 Hispanics and 4,000 African Americans among its total of 33,300. Among honors is a recent citation by the Princeton Review, which named UNT a “Best in the West” college. The university offers 97 bachelor’s, 101 master’s, and 49 doctoral degree programs within the university’s 11 colleges and schools.
