Description: A stately 1902 building that was erected as the business center for cattle traders, this is now the home of the North Fort Worth Historical Society Museum, dedicated to sharing the heritage of the storied Stockyards area. You’ll learn about the cowboys who drove hundreds of thousands of head of cattle through here en route to the markets up north in the earlier years, and you’ll hear about the period when cattle were brought to the slaughterhouses that eventually opened here. The district wasn’t just where beef was traded; there was all manner of commerce at saloons, boardinghouses, and bordellos, too. This particular building was the headquarters for an area once known as the Wall Street of the West; its lawn is the setting for a number of events, including a fantastic chuck-wagon cooking competition every October.
