Description: Here’s another of the rapidly growing school districts: Keller ISD‘s enrollment has more than doubled over the past decade and will likely grow from the current 30,000 students to 40,000 students in the coming decade. There are 35 campuses serving a 51-square-mile area including all of Keller and parts of Colleyville, Fort Worth, Haltom City, Hurst, North Richland Hills, Southlake, Watauga, and Westlake. There are 21 elementary schools, five intermediate and five middle schools, and five high schools.

Description: A 44-acre space built around Big Bear Creek, this play space gives you a pond, two playgrounds, hike-and-bike trails, sandbox, picnic tables and grills, sand volleyball courts, basketball court, inline hockey rink, soccer fields, baseball fields, fire pit, drinking fountains, gazebos, pavilions, and a wild-scape garden with waterfall. Festivals and events are frequently staged at the park.

Description: A 16,970-square-foot aquatics center has it all—two pools, a hot tub, two lazy rivers, three vortex pools, three water slides, and two sets of water-playground equipment, with amenities divided between indoor and outdoor spaces. Water aerobics, scuba classes, swimming lessons, lifeguard training, and more are offered.

Description: With a gorgeous campus of Georgian redbrick buildings in the elite neighborhood of University Park, this private school with about 11,000 students offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs through seven schools, specifically humanities and sciences; business; the performing, visual, and communication arts; engineering; education and human development; law; and theology. Additional campuses are in Plano and Taos, New Mexico. Of special interest is the statistic that SMU’s 10 libraries house the largest private collection of research materials in the Southwest; SMU was recently ranked in Forbes magazine as the 13th best university in the United States; and it houses a superior collection of Spanish art at the internationally acclaimed Meadows Museum. Founded in 1911, SMU is nonsectarian in its teaching. SMU’s athletic teams are the Mustangs.
