Description: Although Trinity traces its roots in Texas to 3 small Presbyterian institutions founded before the Civil War (making it one of the oldest universities in the state), the university itself was moved to San Antonio from Waxahachie in 1942 and to its current site in 1945. The striking campus skyline with its familiar bell tower can be seen from many areas of town. Architects O’Neil Ford and Bartlett Cocke designed the campus buildings using the revolutionary Youtz-Slick system of construction, which uses prefinished concrete floor slabs. No longer a religious institution, Trinity now describes itself as a “professionally oriented liberal arts university.” Its current student body of 2,600 consists mostly of undergraduate students. The university is consistently ranked as one of the top colleges in US News & World Report.
