Description: Until 2005, this art-­deco landmark operated as Olmos Pharmacy, a drugstore with a luncheonette and an old-­fashioned drugstore soda fountain. It was a great place to drink in gobs of nostalgia along with your chocolate malt. Now reborn as Olmos Bharmacy (“Your Neighborhood Bhar”), it has retained both the look and feel of the old pharmacy, with its iconic neon signage and historic soda fountain, which now serves wine and beer along with malts and milk shakes. The specialty of the house is—what else?—the Beer Milk Shake. Patty Lou’s Restaurant handles the food service, serving breakfast (til 3 p.m.!), lunch, and dinner, featuring a wide assortment of burgers, soups, and salads as well as chicken-­fried steak and seafood. At night, the Bharmacy features live music. It’s still a great place to grab a burger and drink in the Old San Antonio vibe.
