Description: The three-day Poquoson Seafood Festival is free (there’s a $5 or so parking fee) and features music, fireworks, dance exhibitions, arts and crafts, children’s events, and, of course, plenty of succulent seafood. Started in 1981, the event is a tribute to the working watermen of Hampton Roads and has become a tradition in the region. To get to Poquoson, which is a bit off the beaten path, take I-64 East to exit 256-B to Route 171 and follow signs for shuttle parking. Or, if you think you’ll get lucky and find a parking place at the festival site, follow Route 171 for about 5 or 6 miles and follow signs to the parking area.
