Description: Part of the Quantico Creek watershed, this national park covers more than 18,500 acres of dense pine and hardwood forests and meandering creeks. More than 30 miles of trails beckon bikers, hikers, and cross-country skiers, on those rare occasions when the region receives more than a dusting of snow. The Pine Grove Visitor Center, open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, features exhibits about the area’s resources and, on weekends, naturalist-led programs. The park offers plenty of tent sites for campers and cabins for family camping during the summer and group camping year-round. Admission to the park, valid for three consecutive days, is $5 per car or $3 for pedestrians. An annual pass is $20.
