Description: The popularity of this course, the most recent addition to the Traditional Club fold in the Williamsburg area, can be explained in two words: “player friendly.” Wide inviting fairways, artfully sculpted, true-rolling greens, and dramatic elevation changes mark the layout, designed by U.S. Open Champion Curtis Strange who has replicated some of his favorite holes from around the world at this course, located between Richmond and Williamsburg. The 15th hole is a wickedly picturesque par 3; the 18th, a par 5 with panoramic views that has been called one of the best finishing holes in the mid-Atlantic. Golf Digest readers rate Brickshire four and a half stars; Golf Styles named it one of the mid-Atlantic’s “Must Play” courses.Carts are not required but strongly suggested—the course is 7,291 yards. Greens fees vary seasonally and discounts are offered to military, VSGA card holders, and senior citizens, but expect to pay $99 on a summer weekend. A clubhouse, pro shop, and restaurant round out the amenities. The course is about 30 minutes west of Williamsburg; follow I-64 to exit 214 (Providence Forge). Take Route 155 south one-half mile to the course entrance.
