Description: This educational aviation museum is fascinating, with an extensive collection of preserved, historic artifacts related to air and space travel and technology. It’s one of the largest and most comprehensive aviation collections in the country, containing tens of thousands of artifacts, millions of rare photographs, a world-class library, and more than 150 rare aircraft and space vehicles—including the original Air Force One and an Apollo command module. Temporary exhibits cover such endlessly popular subjects as Amelia Earhart, war fighter planes, and space exploration. You can even experience flight for yourself in a simulator, or watch the movie Time Flies: A Century of Flight inside the Boeing 737 Airliner Theater. The museum is open daily, and on the first Thurs of each month admission is free after 5 p.m.
