Description: One of the area’s best German restaurants is located in Hudson, Wisconsin, 25 miles east of downtown St. Paul. The menu features several excellent dishes. One savory item is the roulade mit speck und gurke. The flavorful beef rollups and smoky bacon are wrapped around a tasty pickle. Also outstanding is the jägerschnitzel. The fine pork cutlet is the restaurant’s biggest seller and comes accompanied by spaetzle (homemade noodles) and rotkraut (red cabbage). The schweinhaxe (pork hocks) is a popular daily special that occasionally sells out during lunch. For smaller appetites there are soups and sausage platters (bratwurst, weisswurst, bauern mettwurst, and knackwurst) on the menu. The restaurant has a children’s menu (for the “little lederhosens”) and outstanding dessert options such as Black Forest cake, apple strudel, and chocolate torte.
